Why have Houston and Dallas Texas gone from all republican to all democratic in the last 5 years? GOP losin TX?
I live in Texas. Anyone in Texas can tell you that our demographics are rapidly changing. The hispanic population of this state currently stands at 40%. Non Hispanic whites have been in the minority since 2003. Non Hispanic Whites are about 45% of Texas.
In 2006, Dallas County – the SECOND most populated county in Texas kicked out every single republican countrywide, elected an openly lesbian hispanic sheriff named lupe valdez, and an African American District Attorney,
Then in 2008, Harris County, where HOUSTON is did the same thing by kicking out nearly all countywide republicans. They elected a lesbian mayor Anne Parker, who was just reelected last week.
What will the republicans do when they lose Texas? Houston and Dallas demographics are about 10% less white than the state average. One third of Houston and Dallas are white. BTW I am white and yes I am a democrat along with my entire family, but then again we are educated Austinites. Austin is a very good liberal town.
OK…based on your Q&A this morning, I STRONGLY DISPUTE your claim of “educated Austinites.”
Just sayin…
