DUI arrests?
Some of my brothers friends were in a car accident last night and they were all drunk. What is the process for DUI arrests? like.. you get arrested.. then what? go to a holding cell for the night? do you have to go to court? how long does it take to set a court date? i’m just really curious now.
i’m from pennsylvania and i saw a website with the laws but i don’t know what the whole process is.
i’m asking about the passengers too.. and they were all under 21 but over 18
The driver gets the DUI and possibly drunk in public, drinking under the age limit, and possession of alcohol if there was any in the vehicle that he was driving at the time of the accident, and he goes to jail to get processed.
The others could be charged with drunk in public, drinking under the age limit, and possession of alcohol if there was any in the vehicle they were passengers in.
As they are all adults they should be released on their own recognizance. They might be held in the police jail until they are sober.
The court date will be within 2 to3 weeks usually, and the fines will probably be a couple of hundred each for the non driver.
The driver is going to wind up spending a couple of thousand dollars by the time it is over.
He will need a lawyer to get the best deal he can get, and his car insurance will go up for the next couple of years.
Hopefully no one was injured, and these boys learn a lesson.
Drinking and driving don’t pay.
