Only people who worked in law enforcement, please answer!!!!!?
I’m 20yrs old & I want to go to college for criminal justice, I want to become a probation officer or a sheriff’s deputy.
I’m willing to do whatever it takes to reach my goal, but I have once concern that I feel may stop this from happening.
I got arrested when I was 19yrs old, the charge was obstruction of a motor vehicle, DWI is what the courts see it as, that is my first & only time I’ve ever been arrested even as a teen.
I live in san antonio, texas & I want to know, wil I still be able to make my dream happen or do I have to move on & not look back.
Please help, because I don’t know if I can do so with this charge..
I have been in law enforcement for nearly 40 years, and done hundreds of applicant background investigations. I would have to know much, much more about you to give you an honest answer. If you are otherwise a perfect candidate, with lots to recommend you, I might still pass the file on as “Recommended”. But if you were just an average person, and had other negatives in your past, I would definitely send your file up marked, “Not Recommended.”
Amd, as you have already been told, if the competition comes down to you and another equal candidate wh has no record, you will lose out.
