In Louisiana is it illegal to leave the state for vacation after receiving my first DWI?
I got my first DWI last month. I have court soon. my lawyer sent me a letter in the mail saying all i have to do is go and plead not guilty and they will schedule another court date. If i wanted to go visit my bf in Texas after my court date is that legal? & after i get my probation sentenced and my community service is sentenced at the second court date can i move to Texas and have it transfer there?
I’m just curious now & don’t meet with my lawyer till Tuesday
As long as you make your court, legal to go to Tx as you are not yet on probation. After being sentenced and placed on probation, you would need permission anytime you leave the state and to make a request and get recommenation for transfer through your PO, get approval from the judge, then be accepted by probation dept in TX to move there.
