“Texas DWI: Timber! Chopping Down on High Breath Tests,” Mark Ryan Thiessen

Link to Lawline CLE Seminar: www.lawline.com Course Description: A high breathalyzer test reading often sounds the death knell for defeating a DWI charge. In some circumstances, however, it can be used to a practitioner’s advantage in establishing a successful defense. Join renowned Texas DWI trial attorney Mark Thiessen in this presentation covering his “disconnect” defense strategy that can be employed when a high BAC and favorable video evidence are at odds with one another. Mr. Thiessen reviews helpful demonstrative evidence that can be shown to jurors to make logical explanations for otherwise incriminating behaviors or observations that evince intoxication. He also presents cross-examination tactics that can be used to dull the strength of the arresting officer’s testimony as well as attack the qualifications of the officer who conducted the breathalyzer test. Mr. Theissen concludes his course with an explanation on how to prepare expert witnesses and offers tips on preparing for trial. Watching this course will empower you to provide stellar Dwi Defense for your clients and help reduce unwarranted financial, social, and psychological hardship.
